ABOUT LIsa Renee Tuminello

Experience
Lisa Renee has been an athlete her whole life and has coached for over 30 years as a running, cycling, and strength coach. Throughout her career, Lisa Renee has worked with numerous medical, research, and athlete training professionals, with a special focus on endurance performance. She has a BS in Exercise Science and graduate work at the International Center for Aquatic Research at the United States Olympic Training Center.

She has additional training and certifications in the areas of muscle activation, biomechanics, functional energy systems, corrective exercise, and others. As part of an education team that presents around the globe, Lisa Renee has worked to develop training and education programs for an international clientele. Her specialties include functional movement and mobility, sport-specific program design, endurance training, injury recovery, and power and speed training.
Currently
Lisa Renee is head coach of the Steamboat Springs High School Cross Country team and previously was head coach of the Track & Field program, coaching over 100 athletes each season. She is co-founder of Elevate Mountain Running Camps and is the founder of Steamboat Springs Youth Track and Field. Lisa Renee has received accolades such as Coach of the Year for the Colorado Western Slopes League (Track and Field) and from the Colorado High School Athletic Association (Cross Country).

Lisa Renee is particularly passionate about coaching young and developing athletes, helping them chase excellence in a positive and supportive environment focused on goal attainment. As an athlete herself, Lisa Renee’s focus in on functional strength and multi-disciplinary training such as mountain running, uphill skiing, adventure racing, road cycling, and mountain biking. Her roots as an athlete began on high school cross country and track & field teams and she then turned her athletic passions to collegiate and professional rodeo as a barrel racer.

As an adult, she has competed as a professional road cyclist, including racing on domestic professional teams and as an ultra-endurance cyclist. Her cycling accomplishments include winning a National Hill Climbing Championship, winning the 12-Hour World Time Trial Championship, 2nd place in the 500-mile World Time Trial Championship, and winning the Race Across America on a 4-person women’s team.

She and her husband Doug now race as Team Steamboat in multi-day adventure races, involving mountain biking, trail running, white water boating, and orienteering. They also enjoy ski mountaineering with their family in the beautiful mountains around their mountain home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
Other
Lisa Renee has also devoted the past several years to humanitarian work in Ukraine, traveling there on six different occasions. For Lisa Renee and her family, health, and sport are gifts that should cause us to dare to live audaciously and count every adventure as a gift from above.
